In the heart of the city of Lecce, with a breathtaking view of the central Piazza S. Oronzo, Caffè Alvino has always been the meeting point of the Leccese. Since 2007 Antonio Catamo and his wife Giuseppina De Iaco have taken over the historic bar with a new management, in the name of the right balance between tradition and innovation. A welcoming cafeteria, finely furnished and with attention to every detail, tells the story of Lecce not only to the people of Lecce but also to all the tourists who normally flock to the city, allowing them to taste the typical traditional products (pasticciotti, rustici and spumoni) together with a vast range of sweet and savory goodies. Mouth-watering showcases displaying cakes and chocolates in all sorts of ways, together with creamy ice creams and fanciful compositions for every occasion. The tea room, with its elegant and comfortable pretzels, is the ideal space to enjoy a relaxing meeting or to seek an intimate refuge from the busyness of the square. For those who can't give up that routine, Caffè Alvino has dedicated a corner outside, with tables and planters overlooking the square.
