Serre Susumaniello - Salento IGP - Cantine Due Palme is a rich and soft wine in the mouth, which reveals the vaguely sweet character with nuances in the scent of chocolate and autumn jams, heaven makes it perfect with dishes based on red meats, aged cheeses and game.
We were among the first to believe in the potential of this native vine of the Alto Salento, located around the city of Brindisi, which was in danger of disappearing but which instead, with great foresight, we strongly wanted to recover, vinifying it in purity.
This is how our Serre was born, obtained from Susumaniello grapes, whose name means "loaded like a donkey", as it is particularly full of fruit when young. In the maturity stage, after about 10 years, productivity drops significantly and it can finally be tasted in all its perfection. It is easy to recognize the Susumaniello bunches among the Salento natives, thanks to its extremely inky blue color, so much so that in the past it was used as a cut to give greater chromatic depth to the other wines. Serre is obtained from selected grapes harvested manually and macerated in horizontal rotating silos, aged 6 months in French oak barriques.
